Leverage Microfinance Limited has officially opened a new branch in Kpone near Tema, marking a significant step in its mission to extend inclusive, community-based financial services to underserved areas.
The new branch is expected to offer tailor-made financial solutions to small traders, entrepreneurs, and the agricultural sector within Kpone, Tema, and surrounding communities. The move comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to deepen financial inclusion and support local economic growth.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, former Principal of the National Banking College, Phillip Kwasi Buaben, used the occasion to call for integrity and professionalism across Ghana’s financial institutions. He emphasized that the recent banking sector cleanup must serve as a guiding lesson for players in the industry.
“Discipline, prudent management, and strong internal systems are the bedrock of every successful financial institution,” Mr. Buaben said. “Both management and customers have a role to play in building resilience and trust.”
The seasoned banker underscored that the future of Ghana’s financial industry will depend on the strength of its ethical standards and operational controls.
Board Chairman of Leverage Microfinance, Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh (Rtd), reaffirmed the company’s commitment to responsible banking, stating that financial discipline had sustained Leverage during the sector-wide turbulence that led to the collapse of several institutions.
“While many collapsed, we endured. This new branch reflects our readiness to break new frontiers and redefine community-based financial services,” he told the gathering, which included stakeholders, customers, and traditional leaders.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer also addressed the media, highlighting the unique value Leverage Microfinance brings to its clients, especially in the agriculture sector.
“Our products go beyond the ordinary. We support agriculture with soft loans and are introducing practical financial solutions that meet the real needs of our people,” he noted.
The opening ceremony drew representatives from the Kpone Traditional Council, who pledged their full support for Leverage’s operations and promised to ensure a conducive environment for doing business. The National Association of Microfinance Companies also lauded the institution’s bold expansion efforts and encouraged the management to continue upholding transparency, professionalism, and client-centered services.
Leverage Microfinance Limited, known for its resilience during the banking sector reforms, has built a reputation for trust, innovation, and grassroots engagement. With the Kpone branch, the company strengthens its presence in the Greater Accra Region and signals a renewed commitment to connecting financial empowerment with everyday life.
