The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly impersonating police officers to steal a motorbike.

The suspects, Richard Demordzi Tamakloe, 35, and Godwin Agbolosu, 32, were arrested at Ashaiman on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m. after the owner spotted them riding his stolen motorbike and raised an alarm.

According to police, the complainant reported that about two weeks earlier, the suspects posed as police officers, arrested him and took his motorbike under the pretext of sending it to a police station, but bolted with it.

A search on the suspects led to the recovery of one police body armour, one taser, a pair of handcuffs, a police baton, two military caps and two Royal motorbikes – one unregistered and the other with registration number M-25-GE 5665.

They have been charged with falsely pretending to be a public officer, stealing and unlawful possession of police accoutrements. They were arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on September 8, 2026, and remanded into police custody to reappear on September 16, 2026.

The Police have cautioned the public to be vigilant and report persons who unlawfully parade themselves as police officers to the nearest police station.
