The Ho Zongo Community has strongly opposed the closure of the Ho Central Mosque, describing the decision as unfair and a violation of their constitutional right to freedom of worship.

In a statement issued by the Ulema of the Ho Zongo Community, members said they have worshipped peacefully in the mosque for many years without incident. According to the statement, calm at the mosque was only disrupted when an armed group forcefully entered the premises and gunshots were fired, an act the community says endangered lives and desecrated a sacred place of worship.
The community expressed concern that instead of ensuring security and protecting worshippers after the violent incident, the mosque has been shut down, a move they say punishes peaceful Muslims rather than addressing the root cause of the violence.

The statement questioned whether perpetrators of the violence have been properly investigated and prosecuted, and why a whole community should suffer restrictions on worship due to actions allegedly carried out by a few individuals.
Members of the Ho Zongo Muslim community stressed that the closure of the Ho Central Mosque is unacceptable and reaffirmed their demand for justice, security, and respect for their constitutional rights.
They have called on relevant authorities, civil society organizations, and the media to take keen interest in the matter and ensure fairness and justice prevail.
The statement was signed by Abdul-Razak Abubakar, Secretary of the Ho Zongo Community.
