Ada Traditional Council Debunks Rumour on 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival Cancellation

Organisers of the Ada Asafotufiami Festival have moved quickly to shut down false reports spreading online, confirming that the 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival Durbar and Thanksgiving Service will go ahead as scheduled.
In an official public announcement released today, the Festival Committee described claims that the event had been cancelled as completely false and should be disregarded.
According to the statement, work at the venue is already in full swing, crews are currently erecting canopies, platforms, and other event facilities to host what is expected to be one of the most memorable celebrations in recent years.
“The 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival Durbar and Thanksgiving Service will take place as scheduled,” the Committee stated. “Preparations are progressing smoothly to ensure a successful and memorable celebration.”
The Committee is urging all sons and daughters of Ada, both at home and in the diaspora, as well as friends and visitors, not to be misled by unverified social media reports.
“Come and be part of this historic celebration as we honour our rich cultural heritage, strengthen our unity, and showcase the pride of the Ada Traditional Area,” the announcement read.
Asafotufiami is celebrated annually by the people of Ada to commemorate the heroism of their ancestors and to promote unity. The theme for this year’s celebration is, “Ada Asafotufiami Festival 2026 – Our Culture, Our Heritage, Our Pride,” sets the tone for a gathering focused on tradition, togetherness, and cultural pride.
With that direct message, organisers closed their statement, calling on everyone to come together “in peace, love, and unity” for the durbar and thanksgiving service.
For Ada and its well-wishers around the world, the message is clear: ignore the speculation, pack your kente, and get ready. The 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival is on.
