The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema West, Hon. Ludwig Totimmeh, has reiterated government’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s education sector as part of efforts to build hope and create prosperity for citizens.
According to him, the government’s reset agenda is aimed at strengthening the country’s educational system, sustaining free education and ensuring that young people are equipped with the skills needed to secure meaningful opportunities in the future.
Hon. Totimmeh made the remarks when addressing pupils, teachers and parents during a municipal education gathering in Tema West that brought together several basic schools for a march past and awards ceremony.

He stressed that the government’s vision for national prosperity must be inclusive, with deliberate efforts to create opportunities for women and support small businesses to grow.
The MCE commended schools within the municipality for their academic achievements, noting that some pupils from the area have previously earned the President’s Special Awards for outstanding performance.
He urged teachers to remain dedicated to their work and called on parents to support the educational process by providing the necessary learning tools for their children.
Hon. Totimmeh also encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously, stressing that education remains the most reliable pathway to personal development and national progress.
“Hope is restored when citizens see tangible progress and experience responsible leadership, and when the youth believe that their education will lead to meaningful opportunities,” he stated.
In a message delivered on her behalf, the Tema West Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Naatogmah, expressed optimism about the future of education in the municipality, citing the enthusiasm displayed by pupils during the event.
She noted that the gathering served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Ghana’s forebears and the responsibility of the current generation to continue building a prosperous nation.
Mrs. Naatogmah emphasised that education remains the most powerful tool for reform and development within the municipality.
“Within the Tema West Municipality, we believe that education is the ultimate tool for reform. By bringing our schools together, we are signalling that our children are the architects of the prosperity we seek,” she said.
The event brought together about ten schools and two cadet groups who participated in a march past that highlighted discipline and teamwork among the pupils.
At the end of the competition, Salvation Army School placed first, followed by Adjei Kojo Basic School in second place, while Batsona Basic School secured the third position.
All participating schools received certificates, while special awards were presented to students who excelled in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
