The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will on Monday, September 1, 2025, commence a five-day Conference of Heads of Mission and Orientation Programme for newly appointed envoys of Ghana, aimed at strengthening the country’s diplomatic front under the government’s “Reset Agenda.”
The conference, scheduled to run until Friday, September 5, 2025, will be held under the theme “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda.” Former President John Dramani Mahama is expected to officially open the programme and launch Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Heads of Mission.
According to the Ministry, the conference seeks to adequately prepare Heads of Mission for their diplomatic roles by providing in-depth briefings on key areas of national interest. Officials say the programme is designed to ensure envoys are well-positioned to advance Ghana’s foreign policy objectives, which ultimately aim at improving the livelihoods of citizens.
To deepen participants’ understanding of their responsibilities, the Ministry has lined up special sessions featuring experts from key national institutions. These sessions will focus on knowledge-sharing, policy alignment, and strategies to enable envoys to effectively discharge their mandates in their respective jurisdictions.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its commitment to providing quality public service,” the release stated, emphasizing the importance of capacity building for diplomats as Ghana strengthens its engagement with the international community.
The conference brings together both seasoned and newly appointed envoys, offering them a platform to deliberate on challenges and opportunities in Ghana’s diplomacy, while aligning their missions with the country’s broader development goals.
