A former Constituency Chairman and Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ningo Prampram, Michael Tetteh Kwetey, has declared his intention to contest the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship position.
Mr. Kwetey, in a statement announcing his decision, said he had been encouraged by calls and expressions of confidence from NDC supporters across the Greater Accra Region and beyond to offer himself for the position.
He said his decision followed consultations, reflection and calls from party supporters who believe his experience and service to the NDC had prepared him for the regional leadership role.
According to him, his political experience includes serving as a Constituency Secretary and Constituency Chairman, as well as recently contesting as a Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant for Ningo Prampram.
“I am here today in response to your calls. I have listened to you, reflected on your confidence in me, and heeded your call,” he said.
Mr. Kwetey consequently announced that he would pick a nomination form when nominations are opened to formally contest the Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship position.
He pledged to serve the party with dedication, humility, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility if given the mandate.
The declaration is expected to add to the contest for leadership of the NDC in the Greater Accra Region, a key political stronghold of the party.
Mr. Kwetey thanked party supporters for their confidence and called for their continued support as the party moves towards the regional elections.
