The Ada West District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has been adjudged the Ada West Best Livestock Farmer at the district edition of the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration held at Toflokpo.

Fifty-three-year-old Erich Nii Doku Abayateye from Anyamam, a coastal community, received the award ahead of several other competent livestock farmers who were vetted and shortlisted for the prize.

Though a coastal dweller, Mr. Abayateye has a deep affinity for agriculture—ranging from crop production and fish farming to poultry and livestock—an engagement he has pursued for the past two decades.

The recognition reflects his commitment to providing exemplary leadership at Ada West NADMO, particularly through initiatives such as establishing a NADMO crop farm, fish farm, and other livelihood-support ventures aligned with one of the organisation’s core mandates. Since assuming office, Mr. Abayateye has initiated processes to secure land for the establishment of what will be known as the Ada West NADMO Farm, the organisation’s contribution to the government’s agricultural drive toward food security and job creation.

The 2025 Ada West Best Livestock Farmer currently maintains cattle, watermelon, tomato, cassava, and okro farms, as well as goats, sheep, and poultry.

He received items including agrochemicals, fertilisers, cutlasses, and a mini-fridge. The award, he noted, will spur him on to expand his production with the aim of advancing to regional and even national recognition in the coming years.
