In his quest to further cut the cost of government’s expenditure, President John Dramani Mahama, has directed with immediate effect, the termination of payments of fuel allowances and allocation of fuel to all political appointees.

In a statement signed by the government’s spokesperson person, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the directive forms part of a consolidated stance by government at curbing expenditure targeted at cutting cost and channel the limited resources into prioritised projects for the benefit of the masses.

The move, according to the statement is anchored in the firm belief of the president that leadership is required to live the kind of sacrifice it enjoins the citizenry to make.

The latest move by the president comes on the heels of other cost-cutting interventions including reduction in the size of government through the appointment of fewer ministers and presidential staff members as well as cancellation of satellite TV subscription for offices at the presidency and other government establishments.
