Two people — a food vendor named Taanii and her two-year-old son — have tragically died from suspected food poisoning in Kwahu Atibie in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Two others are in critical condition and receiving treatment at the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie.

The incident occurred when Taanii, who sells fufu at Mpraeso, and her family reportedly failed to wake up after sleeping. It is suspected to be a case of food poisoning.

The landlord, Emmanuel Wiafe Osarfo, told VoiceAfricaonline.com: “A day before the incident, the family went to sell food and came back peacefully. I cannot tell what happened in the night, but they couldn’t wake up in the morning.”

Mr. Osarfo subsequently reported the incident to the police, who conveyed the bodies to the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie for examination and investigation.

The two critically ill individuals are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
