Two people sustained gunshot wounds on Tuesday night, December 16, 2025, after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a passenger bus traveling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi.
The incident occurred near the Walewale township when the assailants targeted a bus belonging to Great Imperial Express, with registration number GY 3199-21. The driver and one passenger were hit during the attack and were left in critical condition.

Although the motive for the shooting remains unclear, sources indicate the incident may be connected to tensions arising from the Otumfuo mediation process recently presented to President John Dramani Mahama, which is said to have angered a faction involved in the conflict.
The injured victims were rushed to the Walewale Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the attack, and investigations are expected to commence to identify the perpetrators and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
