Commuting came to a standstill leaving tens of travellers stranded on the Ada-Aflao road following the heavy rain which began last night.

Passengers were thorn between whether or not to alight in the ongoing rain as the Kowadenasi section of the road between Adokorpe and Hwakpo has been cutt off as a result of the bridge being overwhelmed by the huge water volumes emanating from the Battor areas sweeping across the highway.

Ada, Aflao and Keta bound vehicles from Tema, Accra and Ashaiman could not drive through the fierce running water and were compelled to park along the road in wait for the water volumes to reduce a little. There were two similar scenes of such spectacle between Sege and Koluedor prior to the major incident which has halted commutting temporarily disrupting economic activities.

Passengers have spent a couple 9f hours waiting for the water levels to come down, while those with high vehicles had to risk their lives and with the guidance nearby community folks to navigate their way through the floods to avoid being washed away.

Though the situation is getting better after about three hours in wait to access the route, the runoff water continue to sweep across the major stench causing fear among motorist.

The downpour which according to the Ghana Meteorological Agency is expected to persist up to Tuesday could potentially damage sections of the Trans-ECOWAS trunk road if engineers and other experts do not devise means to ameliorate the impact.
