The longstanding land, boundary and related traditional disputes between the Nkoranza and Mo traditional areas in the Bono East Region have reached a major breakthrough following a peace dialogue involving the paramount chiefs of the two traditional areas.

The peace initiative was facilitated by the Executive Chairman of Ghana Link Network Services Limited, Nick Danso Adjei, in collaboration with the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi.

The two traditional authorities were brought together for a peace dialogue on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during which they agreed to end the protracted disagreements and restore peaceful relations between their respective communities.

As part of the agreement, the traditional leaders committed to taking the necessary steps to withdraw or discontinue court cases arising from the disputes.

The disagreements, which have centred largely on land, boundaries and related traditional matters, had strained relations between the two traditional areas and, at various times, contributed to violent clashes.

Mr Danso Adjei and the Regional Minister urged the chiefs and their respective traditional councils to put the safety, unity and development of their people ahead of the issues that had divided the communities.

The parties also acknowledged the longstanding historical, cultural, family and economic ties between the people of Nkoranza and Mo, and agreed that dialogue and cooperation provided a more sustainable path than prolonged litigation and confrontation.

The agreement is expected to provide a more stable environment for farming, commerce, investment and community development in the affected areas.

It is also expected to support efforts to rebuild trust between residents and strengthen peaceful coexistence between the two communities, whose relations have historically been interconnected.

Mr Danso Adjei commended the traditional leaders for what he described as courage, maturity and commitment to peace, while expressing appreciation to the Bono East Regional Minister for his leadership and collaboration throughout the mediation process.

The parties have subsequently been encouraged to ensure that the agreement is fully implemented, formally documented and effectively communicated to their respective communities.

The traditional authorities are also expected to establish mechanisms to address any future disagreements through peaceful and timely dialogue.

The mediation has been presented as an example of cooperation among traditional authorities, public officials and private-sector actors in addressing longstanding community disputes and promoting social cohesion and development.
