The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, has dismissed allegations that the government’s Big Push Infrastructure Programme is driven by sole sourcing, calling such claims “mischievous” and contrary to facts presented to Parliament.
Speaking in Parliament, Minister Agbodza emphasized that all Big Push contracts comply with the Public Procurement Act, with details available on the Ministry’s website. He revealed that only 44% of major contracts, including Big Push projects, were awarded through sole sourcing, while over 400 contracts went through open competitive tendering.

The government maintains its procurement processes are transparent and lawful, justifying sole sourcing for urgent projects due to Ghana’s deteriorating road network. Critics, however, demand greater transparency, sparking ongoing debates about procurement practices in Ghana’s infrastructure development.
