The Ho Teaching Hospital has intensified efforts to improve healthcare delivery through digital innovation, strategic partnerships and staff recognition initiatives aimed at strengthening clinical services and patient care.

The hospital recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first healthcare facility in Africa to implement the RedPath 2.0 digital patient navigation system, a specialised technology designed to track and manage patient care from screening through treatment.

The system was introduced through a partnership with global healthcare company Roche and is expected to reduce patient waiting times, improve treatment pathways and enhance overall patient experience.

Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Hintermann K. K. Mbroh, said the initiative forms part of the hospital’s digital-first strategy to modernise healthcare delivery and strengthen its emerging medical tourism agenda.

According to him, the technology will significantly support cancer care management by providing real-time insights into patient journeys while enabling hospital authorities to identify and address treatment delays more effectively.

Beyond digital transformation, the hospital is also expanding its healthcare capacity through strategic partnerships. A delegation from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund and international medical support organisation Project C.U.R.E. recently visited the facility to assess its medical equipment needs.

Following the assessment, Project C.U.R.E. pledged to supply the hospital with essential medical equipment and supplies at no cost, while MahamaCares will cover the shipping and clearing costs. The collaboration is expected to significantly strengthen clinical services at the hospital and improve healthcare delivery across the Volta Region and neighbouring areas.

Meanwhile, the hospital has honoured two retired medical leaders whose contributions helped shape the growth of the institution. The send-off ceremony celebrated former Chief Executive Officer Dr. John Tampouri and former Director of Pharmaceutical Services Dr. John Korbuvi for their years of dedicated service.

The event attracted a broad range of stakeholders including representatives from the Ministry of Health (Ghana), the Ghana Health Service, regulatory bodies, traditional authorities and security agencies.

As part of internal reforms to enhance service delivery, several departments within the hospital have also undertaken performance reviews of their 2025 operations to identify challenges and set targets for improvement in 2026. The Surgical and Paediatric departments presented detailed reports outlining their achievements and strategies to further improve patient care.

In addition to clinical and administrative developments, management has continued efforts to promote staff morale and compassionate healthcare. During activities marking the month of love in February, the office of the Chief Executive Officer organised a chocolate distribution exercise across hospital wards and units to support both patients and staff.

The hospital also recognised the dedication of Madam Gomadonku Margaret, a health orderly at the Main Out-Patient Department, for her commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

Management of Ho Teaching Hospital says it remains committed to strengthening healthcare systems through innovation, strategic partnerships and professional excellence, while positioning the facility as a leading centre for quality healthcare delivery and medical training in Ghana.
