African Tradition at its Best: Mama Atonuwor V Outdoored as Queen Mother of Abutia Nyive

The Abutia Traditional Area in the Ho West District of the Volta Region has witnessed another historic moment with the installation of a new Queen Mother for the Nyive Clan, Mama Atonuwor V.

At her official outdooring ceremony, Mama Atonuwor V vowed to prioritize education, peace, and unity in the Abutia community, stressing that these values are essential for driving development in the area.

Speaking before chiefs, elders, and residents during the ceremony at Abutia Teti, the new Queen Mother said she was determined to work hand in hand with traditional leaders and stakeholders to address the pressing challenges facing her people. “Education, peace, and unity are key challenges affecting the development of Abutia. I am committed to ensuring that these will soon be things of the past,” Mama Atonuwor V declared.

The event was graced by the Paramount Chief and President of the Abutia Traditional Council, Togbe Gidi Abutia Kodzo, who formally introduced the new Queen Mother to the people. He urged her to work closely with the Paramount Queen Mother and chiefs to accelerate development across the traditional area.

Collaboration is the key. If we stand together as leaders, we can bring meaningful progress to Abutia,” Togbe Gidi Abutia Kodzo emphasized.

The District Chief Executive DCE for Ho West, Profer Dusey, also commended the chiefs and people of Abutia for rallying behind their traditional authority. He expressed optimism that the new Queen Mother’s leadership will strengthen unity and foster social and economic development.

The installation of Mama Atonuwor V is not just for the Nyive Clan but for the entire Abutia Traditional Council. Her leadership will bring progress and dignity to our people,” the DCE remarked.

The colourful ceremony brought together chiefs and queen mothers from across Ho West, including Togbe Chali, Chief of Abutia Kpota, and other dignitaries, who came to witness and celebrate the installation.

With her pledge to champion education, peace, and unity, Mama Atonuwor V’s reign is expected to inspire hope and strengthen community bonds in Abutia Nyive and beyond.
