Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, operators of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), says a major upgrade is underway to address persistent system downtimes that have disrupted trade facilitation in recent weeks.
The company confirmed that importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and shipping lines have faced intermittent challenges using the platform, which is central to clearing goods at Ghana’s ports. It said its technical team, working in collaboration with key industry stakeholders, has identified the root causes and is implementing measures to stabilise the system.
According to Ghana Link, the upgrade is designed to expand ICUMS’ processing capacity and improve resilience against surging trade volumes. The company also disclosed ongoing partnerships with Internet Service Providers to strengthen the platform’s internet backbone and ensure a smoother, uninterrupted service.
“We anticipate that the comprehensive improvements being executed will be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2025,” the company assured. “The upgraded system will deliver a solid, stable, and faster user experience for all stakeholders.”
The statement further appealed to importers and other trade actors to remain patient during the transition, noting that their trust has been crucial to the platform’s success.
Ghana Link reiterated its commitment to maintaining a reliable, transparent, and efficient trade facilitation system that supports businesses and enhances government revenue mobilisation.
