Ada Korgbor Enstools First Youth Queen Mother to Champion Education, Youth Empowerment and Community Development

The Korgbor community in the Ada Traditional Area has enstooled its first Youth Queen Mother, Naana Maadey Leyo I, who has pledged to lead the fight against school dropout, teenage pregnancy and youth unemployment while promoting education and economic empowerment.

Known in private life as Hon. Mrs. Vicentia Sename Leyo Kporha, Naana Maadey Leyo I was officially installed during a colourful coronation ceremony attended by traditional rulers, queen mothers, religious leaders, family members, youth groups, dignitaries and hundreds of residents from across the Ada Traditional Area.

The event commenced with traditional rites at the Ada Traditional Council before a ceremonial procession through the principal streets of Korgbor to the community centre, where the main coronation celebration was held amid vibrant cultural performances, traditional drumming and dancing.

Speaking to journalists after her installation, Naana Maadey Leyo I expressed concern over the rising incidence of school dropout and teenage pregnancy, describing them as major challenges threatening the future of young people in the community.

She pledged to work collaboratively with parents, schools, traditional authorities, government agencies and development partners to promote quality education, mentor adolescents and empower young people to make responsible life choices.

According to the Youth Queen Mother, her office will champion advocacy campaigns, community sensitisation programmes, mentorship initiatives and skills training aimed at reducing social vices while improving educational outcomes and economic opportunities for the youth.

She also announced plans to support entrepreneurship and women’s economic empowerment through business development initiatives and vocational training programmes designed to reduce unemployment and improve livelihoods.

Naana Maadey Leyo I explained that the establishment of the Youth Queen Mother institution fills a long-standing gap in traditional leadership by creating a dedicated platform to engage young people, understand their concerns and involve them in community development.

called on all citizens of Ada to put aside their differences and unite in pursuit of peace and development.

He noted that despite Ada’s vast tourism potential, rich cultural heritage and abundant natural resources, internal divisions have hindered the area’s progress over the years.

The Mankralo further appealed to parents to play active roles in raising responsible children through proper guidance, discipline and educational support.

Residents described Naana Maadey Leyo I as a visionary leader with integrity, humility and a strong passion for community service, expressing confidence that her leadership would inspire positive behavioural change, strengthen youth participation and accelerate development within the Korgbor community and the wider Ada Traditional Area.

The installation of Naana Maadey Leyo I marks a historic milestone for Korgbor Ada and is expected to usher in a new era of youth-focused traditional leadership centred on education, empowerment, peace, unity and sustainable community development.
