One person has been confirmed dead and twenty others injured in a fatal accident Tuesday morning in front of the NDC Regional Office on the Accra–Cape Coast Highway.
The crash involved a stationary Man Diesel truck, registration WR 1546-V, and a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, registration CR 623-25, traveling towards Cape Coast.
According to reports, the Sprinter, while overtaking other vehicles en route to Mankessim, rammed into the parked truck, which had been left on the road due to a mechanical fault.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team, dispatched to the scene, extricated three victims trapped in the mangled vehicle. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while eighteen others with varying degrees of injuries were rescued with assistance from the National Ambulance Service and rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
The GNFS worked alongside the National Ambulance Service, the Ghana Police Service, and the National Road Safety Authority to manage the aftermath of the crash and restore traffic flow on the busy highway.
