Three Suspected Armed Robbers Shot Dead in Tema Industrial Area Shootout

A high-stakes shootout between police and a gang of armed robbers in the Tema Industrial Area has resulted in the deaths of three suspects, with several others reportedly on the run.

According to a press release issued by the Tema Regional Police Command, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, July 21, 2025, when officers responded to a distress call about a robbery in progress at a warehouse in the industrial enclave. The suspects, estimated to be around ten in number, were reportedly in the act of breaking into the facility when police patrol teams arrived at the scene.

The confrontation escalated into an exchange of gunfire. During the operation, three of the alleged robbers were shot and later pronounced dead. The remaining suspects, some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, managed to escape and are currently being pursued by the police.

Law enforcement recovered a number of weapons and ammunition at the scene, including a Bruni Mod foreign pistol, a locally manufactured double-barrelled pistol with two rounds, and eleven live BB cartridges.

The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs at the Tema Regional Police Headquarters, confirmed the incident in an official statement and commended the swift response by officers of the Kpone District Command, which helped prevent further harm.

Investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining fugitives. The police are urging the public to report any suspicious individuals with possible gunshot wounds and to assist with relevant information that could lead to their arrest.

Authorities have assured residents and businesses in the Tema enclave of their continued commitment to ensuring safety and security in the area.
