The young soldier who was recently honoured by a private security firm for rejecting a galamsey bribe has been promoted by the Ghana Armed Forces.
At an all-rank durbar which held at the Burma Hall, Burma Camp in Accra on Friday 11th July 2025, Private Private Solomon Asare Teye-Tsu, currently with the Department of Public Relations of the GAF, was promoted by the Chief of Defense Staff, to the rank of Lance Corporal with immediate effect.
Not only that, he has also been nominated to serve with the United Nations’ Interim Force in Lebanon, aside from being presented with yet another citation.
Decorating him with the rank at a well-attended event which attracted the top brass of the Armed Forces, the CDS, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, implored personnel to always remember their oath to the state and act professionally. ‘’Much as acts of indiscipline would attract sanctions, the same way would professional acts, such as those of L/Cpl Teye-Tsu, attract reward and commendation,” he stressed.
30 years old L/Cpl Solomon Teye-Tsu, was on an official guard duty at the Bibiani Gold Mines late last year when he encountered a group of artisanal miners who attempted to influence him with a substantial amount of money to grant them access to their galamsey pits.
Consumed in the thoughts of patriotism and resolve to contribute to the ongoing illegal mining and its debilitating effects on the environment, L/Cpl. Teye-Tsu did not only reject the offer, but swiftly apprehended and handed the illegal miners to the authorities for prosecution.
Impressed by the selfless and patriotic act, the management of Ojeyz Security Limited, the private company providing security at the site, honoured him as a shining star. A citation which accompanied his award as an outstanding staff recognition, signed by the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the security firm, Captain Haruna Adamu (Rtd.), partly reads, “In appreciation of your commendable performance and unwavering dedication to providing top-notch service, Ojeyz Security Management truly appreciates your professionalism and excellent service delivery”.
Enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces in 2023, L/Cpl Teye-Tsu, is native of Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana and a product of the Manya Krobo Senior High School and the King David College, both located in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region. He is also a member of the Krobo-based youth Network, Kloma Gbi.
