A sharp internal wrangle has erupted within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ningo-Prampram as Hon. Habibu Awudu Mohammed, the constituency organizer and officially appointed District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), issues a public statement to debunk what he describes as fraudulent claims to his position by some individuals within the party.

In a strongly worded release, Hon. Mohammed condemned what he called “selfish attempts by certain persons to parade themselves as NADMO Director,” calling the actions a deliberate ploy to undermine the legitimate leadership in the district for personal gain.

“Let it be categorically stated that, as far as the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Party’s Appointments Committee, and the Greater Accra Regional Minister are concerned, I remain the only legitimately appointed District NADMO Director for the Ningo-Prampram District,” the statement emphasized.

Hon. Mohammed further accused unnamed individuals of circulating fake appointment letters in a bid to usurp the position, describing the act as not only criminal but a threat to the internal cohesion and credibility of the party.

“These individuals are engaging in fraudulent conduct that flies in the face of democratic values and the integrity of state institutions,” he said.

The situation has reportedly created confusion among party supporters and community stakeholders in the Ningo-Prampram District, prompting calls for calm from the embattled director.

“I call on the chiefs, elders, youth, and the good people of Ningo-Prampram, especially my loyal supporters, to remain calm and steadfast. We are guided by truth, legitimacy, and service to the people. Let us not be distracted by imposters and elements of confusion,” he appealed.

Hon. Mohammed affirmed his faith in party structures and due process, noting that the truth will ultimately prevail. His statement has reignited calls for the NDC national leadership to crack down on internal power struggles that risk destabilizing local structures ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The Ningo-Prampram NADMO appointment has become a flashpoint in what observers describe as a wider scramble for influence in the party’s grassroots leadership. Some political analysts warn that failure to address such internal wrangling decisively could undermine the party’s credibility and cohesion in the district.

As of press time, there has been no official response from the NDC’s regional secretariat or the party’s appointments committee on the matter

The unfolding development serves as a cautionary tale about the increasing incidence of intra-party rivalry and the urgent need for transparency and rule of law within political party appointments.
