Founder of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has strongly criticized the government for what he described as a needless venture in creating an office to vet prophecies.
According to him, Ghana is grappling with numerous challenges that urgently require solutions, yet the government has chosen to prioritize what he called a “prophecy office.”
Preaching during his Sunday service on August 24, 2025, the outspoken preacher—speaking in his usual high-pitched voice—described the move as “useless.” He thundered: “Shut that nonsense and let us think about how to stop galamsey, how to improve our roads, and build hospitals to improve healthcare!”
Prophet Oduro expressed disappointment, warning that such an initiative would only encourage charlatan prophets to engage in a charade of prophecies. He questioned the essence of what he called a “senseless venture.”
He drew comparisons with Ghana’s traditional religious system, noting that priests delivered messages from the gods with dignity and without seeking recognition. “Those of us who lived in the villages will recall those days when the priest or priestess would walk to the palace gate, deliver a message from the gods, and leave. They did not seek any favor or attention from the chief or anybody,” he stressed.
Widely regarded as a frank and outspoken preacher, Prophet Oduro has therefore called for the immediate scrapping of the prophecy office. Instead, he urged the government to confront pressing development challenges, including the lack of hospital beds that forces patients to sleep on the floor, the existence of schools under trees, and the country’s deplorable roads that continue to claim lives and deplete Ghana’s human resource base.
