The Nasser International Forum – Sudan Chapter has issued a powerful condemnation of the grave human rights violations and atrocities allegedly committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against civilians in El Fasher, North Darfur, describing the situation as a humanitarian catastrophe that demands urgent international action.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Forum expressed deep outrage and strong condemnation over the deliberate targeting of civilians, hospitals, and humanitarian facilities during the recent wave of violence in El Fasher. It said the attacks, which have left scores of people dead and displaced thousands, amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity under international law.

“These heinous acts represent a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law and human rights principles. They must not go unpunished,” the Forum declared.

The statement comes amid growing concern from rights groups and international organizations about the deteriorating security situation in Darfur, where clashes between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have intensified in recent weeks. Civilians have reportedly borne the brunt of the fighting, with hospitals and aid warehouses damaged or looted, leaving thousands without access to food, water, or medical care.

The Nasser International Forum called on the United Nations, the African Union (AU), the League of Arab States, and the broader international community to immediately intervene to protect civilians, ensure unhindered humanitarian access, and hold those responsible for atrocities accountable.

“We urge the UN and regional bodies to act swiftly to stop the bloodshed, open humanitarian corridors, and guarantee the safety of displaced persons and vulnerable populations — particularly women and children,” the Forum stated.

The Forum emphasized that the international community must not remain silent while civilians continue to suffer, stressing that accountability and justice are essential for lasting peace in Sudan. It also urged the warring parties to commit to an immediate ceasefire and return to dialogue as the only viable path toward stability.

“We affirm our unwavering solidarity with the people of Sudan and call on all national stakeholders to prioritize dialogue over violence. Only an inclusive and peaceful political process can restore stability, unity, and dignity to our nation,” the statement added.

The Nasser International Forum further reaffirmed its support for any peace initiative aimed at ending the suffering in Darfur and preserving Sudan’s territorial integrity and social fabric, noting that continued fragmentation and violence threaten to plunge the country into deeper crisis.

The situation in El Fasher has drawn increasing alarm from humanitarian agencies, with reports of mass displacement and restricted access for aid workers. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) recently warned that the city is on the brink of a major humanitarian disaster, with tens of thousands trapped amid ongoing hostilities.

As the conflict in Sudan nears its second year, the Nasser International Forum’s statement adds to the mounting calls for coordinated international action to halt the violence, protect civilians, and support a political process capable of bringing peace and stability to the war-torn nation.
