Fatherly Neglect Sparing On Misdemeanours

The Ashaiman Divisional Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Reverend Superintendent John Agbemabiase, has identified parental irresponsibility on the part of men as one major contributing factor to misdemeanours among young people in the municipality.
The surging development according to him requires a concerted collaborative efforts to reverse the unpleasant trajectory for societal good.
Reverend Superintendent Agbemabiase, who is also the General Overseer of the Mount Garrison Payer Ministry, made the disclosure at a musical festival he organised at the Church premises at Katamansu Promise Land in the Kpone-Katamansu Municipality.
The programme which brought lots of youth groupings together yo perform sought to speak to the young people true music on the essence of chatting a good path.
Rev. Superintendent Agbemabiase, revealed that crime statistics arising from cases that called at his outfit reveal the lack of parental control and parental irresponsibility by fathers such that, majority of misdemeanour cases that come to his office are virtually followed by only mothers, bringing to question the whereabout of the fathers. “From crime statistics, most of the guys we arrest are as young as Twenty-one, Nineteen and Twenty years, reflecting total parental control and irresponsibility, anytime we arrest them it is only the mothers who follow up, and I’ve been asking where the fathers are”.
While lead women whose husbands are found irresponsible to legal assistance at Legal Aid, The Ashaiman Divisional Crime Officer, said he has also helped to bring many of such young ones back to track. “Personally, i have recommended a lot of children we arrested to Don Bosco, some are into apprenticeship, some have gone back to school and are doing well”.
He therefore urged the media to also help to propagate the gospel by highlighting the positivities of the society and not always reporting on the negativities.
Patience Zida, a gospel musician participant who corroborated the crime officer’s revelation said the worrying development has plunged lots of women into difficulties. She in view of this entreated women, particularly the young ones to be careful when involving in relationships to avert falling victims to the negative trajectory.
Janet Kwao, another exceptional musician lauded the programme which she noted will go a long way to impact many if held regularly.
While assured of organising similar programme come December, Janet Kwao, sought the opportunity to advise young females who are walking through some difficulties to have faith in God as they perform their parts and they shall come out of it.
