The Tamale High Court has ordered that a fresh elections be conducted in the Kpandai parliamentary elections within 30 days from today November 24, 2025.

The decision, delivered by His Lordship Emmanuel Brew Plange, follows a writ by the Kpandai Constituency NDC led by its parliamentary candidate challenging the results of the 2024 parliamentary election in that constituency. The petition alleged irregularities in the voting and collation processes that undermined the integrity and credibility of the outcome.

2024 NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Kpandai Constituency, Daniel Nasala Wakpal, tells the media that the court has vindicated their firmly held position that the elections were fraught with irregularities and the outcome did not reflect the decision of the electorate. Mr. Wakpal said “We saw the irregularities and brought it to court and the court has ruled. We will get to the grounds, prepare for the elections and the Kpandai seat will return to the NDC”.

He therefore thanked his supporters and lawyers for their good works throughout the months of legal tussle resulting in victory.

The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mathew Nyindam, urged constituents to remain calm, stating that he will continue to represent them in parliament.

Lawyer of the defendant speaking to the media after the ruling said though he respects the ruling, he disagrees with the judgment. According to him, the total votes in the 41 polling stations where the chaos occured during the 2024 Kpandai parliamentary elections is less than 500 and could not have changed the outcome of the result, expressing surprise at the ruling.

The defense lawyer therefore hinted of appeal. “We expected this ruling so we prepared and appealed soon after the verdict and subsequently served the NDC candidate who threw it away”.

He added that all they needed was to serve him which he has done hoping that the registrar of the court will enter same.
