The Krachi Traditional Area in the Oti Region has marked a historic milestone with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art community centre at Krachi West , ending decades of hosting major events in open spaces since 1962.
The ultramodern facility, constructed by the Member of Parliament for Krachi West Constituency, Hon Helen Adjoa Ntoso was officially commissioned by the Vice President of Ghana professor Jane Nana Opoku Agyman with the Krachiwura, Nana Mpra Besemuna, Krachi West who also serves as President of the Krachi Traditional Council. Including the Municipal chief Executive of Krachi West Prosper Addo.

The commissioning ceremony formed part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of Nana Mpra Besemuna’s enstoolment, bringing together traditional leaders, government officials, and residents in a celebration of unity and development.
For over six decades, the people of the Krachi Traditional Area have held festivals, community gatherings, and traditional meetings in open environments, often exposed to harsh weather conditions. The completion of this modern community centre is therefore being hailed as a major intervention that will transform social and cultural life in the area.

Speaking at the event, the Vice President commended the Member of Parliament for prioritizing the needs of the people and investing in infrastructure that promotes cultural heritage and community development. He noted that such projects align with the government’s broader agenda of improving local infrastructure across the country.
On his part, Nana Mpra Besemuna expressed profound appreciation for the initiative, describing the facility as a legacy project that will serve generations. He emphasized that the centre will provide a dignified space for traditional governance, dispute resolution, and important community functions.
The Member of Parliament reiterated his commitment to advancing development in the constituency, stating that the project was driven by the long-standing challenges faced by the people in organizing events without a proper venue.
Residents who witnessed the ceremony could not hide their excitement, describing the facility as timely and transformative. Many believe it will not only enhance cultural activities but also support local economic growth through events and gatherings.
The newly commissioned community centre stands as the first of its kind in the Krachi Traditional Area, symbolizing progress, unity, and a renewed commitment to development.
