The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is set to roll out a new digital platform aimed at transforming fire safety regulation and compliance monitoring nationwide.

In a press statement issued in Accra, the Service announced plans to officially launch the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), an online platform designed to streamline fire safety checks and modernise interactions between the Fire Service and the public.
According to the statement signed by Head of Public Relations, Divisional Officer Two Desmond Ackah, AFCAS will replace largely paper-based procedures with a technology-driven system intended to speed up service delivery and improve transparency.
The digital platform will cover fire safety compliance processes for homes, shops, factories, offices and public buildings. Once fully operational, it is expected to serve as the primary channel for public engagement with the Fire Service on inspection scheduling, certification and regulatory requirements.
The Service said the system will make compliance processes faster and easier to track, while also enabling real-time monitoring of safety standards. It will further allow for efficient scheduling of inspections, improved communication between applicants and the Service, and early identification of fire risks.
GNFS noted that AFCAS would help businesses, developers and property owners better understand fire safety requirements, while supporting data-driven planning and enforcement across the country.
Beyond efficiency gains, the Service indicated that the automated system is designed to reduce unfair practices by ensuring uniform application of fire safety rules. Authorities believe this will enhance public trust and confidence in fire regulation.
The Fire Service is urging members of the public, corporate entities and property owners to adopt the system when it becomes operational, stressing that fire prevention remains a shared responsibility.
The launch of AFCAS, according to the statement, forms part of GNFS’s broader commitment to professionalism, innovation and improved public service delivery in protecting lives and property.
