Elders and people of the Ada Traditional Area are calling on the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, to take action on the registrar of the Ada Traditional Council over his conduct which according to them is stoking chieftaincy misunderstandings threatening the peace of the area.

In a press conference at the Ada Traditional Council premises, the concerned stakeholders alleged that as the administrative head of the council, Ebenezer Mettle Nunoo, hardly comes to work thereby depriving prospective individuals, families and clans of undertaking administrative processes concerning their respective cases.

The conduct of the registrar they say amounts to disrespect and affront to the dignity of the council.

Ebenezer Mettle Nunoo, has come under allegations of misconduct and engaging in conflict of interest, an act which according to them is contributing to the myriads of chieftaincy cases that inundate the Ada Traditional Council and by extension the Greate Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

VoiceAfricaonline.com about five weeks ago published a story in which some clan heads of the Ada Traditional Area among other allegations accused the registrar of deliberately evading services and called on the sector minister to call him to order before anything untoward happens.

The latest presser was triggered when some individuals could not access services at the council for one whole week due to tye continuous absence of the registrar.

Other two factions who came for the true certified copy of a judgment delivered one month earlier met a locked up traditional council premises as the registrar could not be reach via telephone. Further ckecks established that the registrar has been absent for almost two weeks without prior notice, a conduct the probe revealed is a common phenomenon since his assumption of office years ago.

Lawrence Ofoe Larweh, who came from Kumasi to serve the council a document from the Tema High Court was unable and kept going to and from the premises for one week but to no avail. “I came all the way from Kumasi to serve this document on the traditional council. This is the document still in my hands, i have been here since Monday up to today Friday and still, i haven’t been able to serve it just because the registrar is unavailable, what do i do now?. He asked.

Mr. Larweh therefore appealed to the minister to check the persistent conduct of the registrar and take the necessary action.

William Apeyesi, an interested party of the said ruling was also unhappy about the attitude of the registrar. He said, “We don’t understand happenings any longer. This registrar’s attitude is becoming unbecoming and requires punitive action by his appointour”.

Mr. Apeyesi sought the occasion to remind the paramount chief of the Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku lll, to ensure that members of his council work with objectivity, fairness and honesty. “We have consistently reminded Djetse of the conducts of his council members but he seem unconcerned. If we die, who will he rule? We are telling him to stamp his feet and demand fairness and objective delivery from his members before their conducts plunge us into infighting, a situation we don’t wish for”.

Leader of the group and the acting stool father of the Kudzragbe Clan, David Dzadzagonor, reiterated a call at the sector minister to turn attention to the conduct of the registrar, failure to do so he noted potends dire consequences in the near future.

Mr. Dzadzagonor also appealed to the paramount chief of the Ada Traditional Area to monitor and evaluate the works of his members. “It is Nene Ada who constitutes panels to adjudicate cases brought before the council and ought to follow their works closed but far from that. He Nene Ada empanelled Nene Agude, Okumo and Oboampng to sit on our case and he is aware of their conducts yet has turned blind eyes to it”. He emphasised.

The Ating Kudzragbe Stool Father is drawing the attention of the Chieftaincy Minister to the attitude of the registrar saying, “We are asking the minister that is the registrar not obliged to be in office from Monday to Friday to render administrative services to interested parties?”.

He therefore reiterated the call at the minister to consider taking a swift action on Ebenezer Mettle Nunoo’s conduct before his actions undermines the peace of the Ada Traditional Area and Ghana at large.
