The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has given the green light to the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, a key strategy for economic transformation. The president assented to the bill on Thursday in a brief ceremony before the 13th cabinet meeting.
“This Bill, which Ghanaians have been waiting for, was one of our flagship strategies for economic transformation,” President Mahama said after signing the bill. He explained that the process took time to ensure due diligence, but now it’s time for implementation.
“The business sector is waiting, Ghanaian investors are waiting, foreign investors are waiting. They want to see the package of incentives that we can afford, so that they can invest more and expand productivity and create more employment for our young people” He added.
The bill establishes a 24-Hour Economy Authority to coordinate public and private sector efforts, address infrastructure needs, and regulate the policy. This move is expected to boost economic growth, create jobs, and attract investment.
Arrival of the law is the fulfilment of one of the promises the president made prior to the 2020 general elections.
