WaterAid Ghana has been honoured for its consistent and invaluable support towards the successful organization of Ghana’s flagship Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) policy dialogue platform — the annual MOLE Conference.

The recognition, presented during the opening ceremony of the 36th edition of the conference at the Marlin Beach Resort in Gomoa-Fetteh, underscores WaterAid Ghana’s long-standing partnership with the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), the conveners of the conference.
Receiving the award on behalf of WaterAid Ghana, Ibrahim Musa, Head of Programmes, Partnership and planning expressed appreciation to CONIWAS and the entire WASH fraternity for the honour. He reaffirmed WaterAid Ghana’s commitment to advancing inclusive and sustainable WASH services across the country, emphasizing that partnerships like the MOLE Conference remain central to shaping effective policies and amplifying the voices of underserved communities.
“This recognition is a motivation for us to deepen our collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access to clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene,” Mr. Musa stated.
WaterAid Ghana has, over the years, played a pivotal role in supporting the MOLE Conference through funding, technical expertise, and policy advocacy. Its contributions have helped sustain the conference as the longest-running multi-stakeholder WASH platform in sub-Saharan Africa, driving policy discussions, accountability, and innovation in the sector.
The 36th MOLE Conference, on the theme “Accelerating WASH Financing for Sustainable Development,” has brought together government officials, civil society organizations, development partners, and private sector actors to deliberate on practical financing solutions to bridge the funding gap in Ghana’s WASH sector.
Executive Secretary of CONIWAS, Basilia Nanbigne, commended WaterAid Ghana for its “unwavering partnership and leadership” in WASH advocacy, describing the organization as “a pillar of strength” behind the success of the MOLE Conference over the decades.
WaterAid Ghana continues to collaborate with government agencies, Development Partners, NGOs, and local authorities to promote climate resilient inclusive WASH systems, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and enhance community resilience in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6).
